At first glance you will be forgiven for thinking this is a complete basket case
but in fact it could make someone a very splendid yacht. Although no one is
denying that it needs a huge amount of work to restore it to it's former glory,
it is not without it's good features.
The wooden hull generally appears in good condition for her age and is very
fair, a good sign of a basically sound structure. It's true that twin rudders is
unusual but the added rudder seems well fitted and scaled so it may be an
improvement on the original.
There is a Sparcraft painted alloy mast, a boom, a Harken furler, a couple
of Harken self tailing winches and genoa tracks all of which look fairly
recent. There is a steering binnacle and compass, stanchions, chain plates
and most deck fittings. Missing is the engine and a large part of the
cockpit. The laid deck is ok but the plywood underneath is not. The entire
deck needs replacing although the deck beams and shelf seem ok. Down below,
it looks like much of the original mahogany and teak interior is there,
although it needs some work to bring it back to condition.
This boat would be quite gorgeous restored. No doubt it would sail very well
and would be quick enough to satisfy. Here is a
web site from when it
was being used a charter yacht.
It can't have been that long ago that she was afloat and sailing. She has
been on shore since July 2008. Hurry and save this fabulous yacht. A few
years out in the heat and she'll start to really suffer.
The current owner is asking a reasonable 15,000€ for her, a far cry from her
recent brokerage price of 150,000€!
