View of the deck head in the forecabin. Remember, this boat is over 80 years
old and very original. All the frames and floors have been replaced and the
entire boat refastened with copper rivets and bronze screws. 99% of the
pitch pine planking is original as is the deck and beams. Structurally this
is a new boat.
Waif's galley. Spacious and bright. Lockers and shelves everywhere.
Waif's beautiful, light and spacious interior. Very few small classic yachts
can offer this kind of volume. There is full standing headroom in the entire
saloon.
Port side settee bunk. Opening portholes throughout the boat. All are solid
bronze and have been completely restored with new hinge pins, seals and
glass. Note also the custom made stainless flue on the wood stove with large
locker/coal/wood store. The woodstove makes Waif an extremely autonomous and
cosy wooden boat. Her original decks are ply and epoxy sheathed so she is an
extremely dry and warm boat.
Looking aft from the bows. The open plan look is created by opening up the
bulkheads. In order to maintain the strength curved oak inlays have been
fitted. These are not laminated, they were steamed into place!
A close up view of the double oval bulkhead. There is a huge amount of
storage in Waif, lockers and shelves abound.
